As the week went on we had lots of girlie chats in the teachers’ room and we decided to make Friday a day of colour explosion. One teacher thought we looked like budgies all walking around in our multi-coloured outfits! It looked great and helped everyone get through the last day of work before a long weekend ![]()
I wasn’t quite ready for my photo but I thought it looked quite Rock’n'roll and not very budgie! I do love a bit of juxtaposition on a Friday.

Day 271 – Rock’n'roll Budgie
Day 220 – sprinkles
The thing I love most about sprinkles is all the different colours and the party feeling that always comes with sprinkles and colour. In the same way that balloons always set that party mood.
I thought today might have been one of those days with too much going on. But I just couldn’t stop adding accessories!
Day 216 – an explosion of colour
Colour exploded today as we opened our invitation to Sam and Brendo’s wedding which just added the perfect multi-colour ending to a winter colour week!
Confetti is the theme and my Shanghai Tang red cardi with lime silk lining and navy and sky blue shirts with multi-coloured glitter shoes accessorised our invitation perfectly!
Day 189 – The Rainbow Connection
I didn’t think I could add another colour to my outfit if I tried and then I met up with my hunky boyfriend for weekly Sunday roast at Coorparoo Bowls Club and he just added to the rainbow fiesta! And yes I’m 3 steps up to be this tall!
My t-shirt was a gift in 2004 from a friend in Hong Kong who always makes me laugh and we seem to compete with one another to see who can make the other laugh more. I made him laugh by thinking (for years) that this t-shirt was just funny ’cause it rhymed with “I don’t know” … Apparently I was wrong. Too late, I had worn it to a wide range of inappropriate places and no one had ever told me otherwise … Sorry, Mum!
Day 109 – 2nd attempt at business pants
So it seems everyone sees what you wear through very different eyes and even if you feel like you look a certain way, you may not be being perceived as such. You may recall yesterday my blog was called Business Time – I was wearing a button up collared shirt and straight legged black work looking pants (admittedly I bought them for a dress up party but that’s not helping my point;). I thought that look was pretty “work”.
Then I walked into the teachers room.
I got a really long up and down look with the comment “That’s a pretty casual look for you”. I was surprised and enquired “Because I’m not wearing a dress?” and the response was simply that perhaps I usually wear more colour. I think he meant …. This is hard for me to say …. That yesterday …. Deep breath …. I looked BORING!! AHHHH!!! Could it be possible??
All I can say is thank goodness I volunteer at a kids’ hospital radio station on Tuesday nights and spent the entire evening in a blonde wig with rosy cheeks and bright red lipstick … Oh if my colleague could have seen me then…sigh!
Anyway have attempted to redeem myself with a similar concept in a different colour scheme. I guess I could have worn my silver sequin dance shoes. This will have have to do.
After my all H&M day yesterday, an all Esprit day today worn with a sense of knowing that it’s ok to jazz up my outfits and accessorise like a demon and that I shall continue to do so – I clearly have a reputation to uphold!
